Can a sensor make a city better? Is it really important to analyze people and their movements in urban areas? With over 5 million passengers per day, does one passenger more or less actually make a difference? Yes, it does! That’s the answer we give every day somewhere in the world. And here it is for you.

Into the future

Our children start asking the question as soon as they learn to speak: Why? It is an important question, even for grown-ups and even for us. We took a closer look at the ‘why’ and found many good and personal answers.

Many people

One city

We noticed that our answers had two levels. One is related to what we are already doing today. And the other one to what we could and want to do. What we will do tomorrow and in the future. And all of a sudden, we’re talking about what and how a city improves if the people in charge of the city have more knowledge available to them.

For we support and strengthen the city’s basic functions: mobility, shopping and experiences, quality of life in public spaces and work environments. We create insights that can help improve a city for its inhabitants.

Our vision:
Local Data for Better Cities

Public spirit

We work for the city and are also part of it – as individuals and professionals. That’s what makes us citizens and as such, we feel responsible for this place, our home. We know that there are citizens all over the world who are campaigning for their city. We admire and support them.

Collaboration

Cities are complex places. We don’t stand a chance of making them better and well organized unless we work together and exchange ideas. That is our firm conviction and we are ready to act on it. We are already actively involved in a network consisting of partners from the fields of politics, administration, trade and mobility.

Local data

Urban knowledge and urban intelligence are the most important sources for future urban development. That’s why local data is so valuable and important. We believe data about people belongs to the people and no one else. That’s why we support the ideas of the Open Data Alliance. With it, all of a city’s stakeholders can use the data to improve the city as we can already see in the example of Helsinki.

Quality of life

Cities are made for people. The more people you find on the streets, the better it is fulfilling its function. Seeing children and senior citizens everywhere is a sign of a city’s good quality of life. In order to achieve this, we need urban planning and urban development that puts people and their journeys, needs and desires first and meets these needs to their satisfaction.

Our vision and these key words answer the question of why we do what we do. We want to do something meaningful and to innovate, do more of what we consider important and effective. In our daily business we often deal with many details, technical issues, numbers and certificates. Our work revolves around sensors and installations, implementing software and configuring dashboards for various roles, participating in tenders, negotiating contracts and processing orders.

But once we’re on our way home – on the train, in the tram, in our car or on our bike – we realize once again what an amazing thing a city like this is. And we’re contributing to making the city better: with new ideas, with open data, and with you?
